Lorain County Health & Dentistry is a nonprofit community health center and the only safety-net provider of primary healthcare for people of all ages in Lorain County, Ohio. Founded in 2002, it delivers comprehensive care regardless of a patient's ability to pay. Over its first 14 years the centre recorded nearly 500,000 doctor and dentist visits, and it now operates across six locations in the county, including Lorain, Elyria, Oberlin and Amherst.
Its clinical scope is broad. Services include primary medical care for all ages, dental care, behavioural health, women's health, an on-site pharmacy and additional specialty provision covering vision care, podiatry and optometry. Care is organised around the Patient-Centered Medical Home model (NCQA-recognised), which places emphasis on partnership with patients and on co-ordinating services within a single provider.
The organisation is mission-driven, with the stated aim of removing barriers to healthcare access for the most vulnerable members of the community. Its published values are Respect, Quality, Compassion, Integrity and Excellence. More than two decades of operation have been served under a single mandate: to provide healthcare to those who might otherwise go without it.
