Archdiocese of Chicago

The Archdiocese of Chicago is a Roman Catholic diocesan organisation serving 2.2 million Catholics through 216 parishes, 150+ schools, a seminary and Catholic Charities across Northeastern Illinois.

The Archdiocese of Chicago is the Roman Catholic diocesan organisation for Cook and Lake counties in Northeastern Illinois, serving more than 2.2 million Catholics across an area of 1,411 square miles. It is the third largest archdiocese in the United States and employs more than 13,000 people across its parishes, schools, ministries and social service agencies, making it one of the larger faith-based employers in the region. The organisation is led by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich.

Employment spans four main areas. The archdiocese operates one of the largest private school systems in the country, with over 150 elementary and secondary schools teaching more than 40,000 students; the system has received 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards. It also runs a seminary for priestly formation that ranks among the largest in the United States, and supports 216 parishes together with the ministries and agencies that serve local communities. Catholic Charities, the region's largest nonprofit social service agency, delivers charitable outreach and comprehensive social services.

Work across these entities is oriented towards three stated objectives: academic excellence rooted in the Catholic faith, spiritual renewal, and charitable outreach. Roles therefore range from teaching and school administration to pastoral leadership, religious formation, and social services. Further information is available at https://archchicago.org/.
