We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our growing team.
Assistant Designer will help the Design team with execution of key administrative responsibilities for their product category - managing the product life cycle - updating tech packs, submit approvals, follow up on email, receiving pkgs., filing prints & trims. With supervision, the assistant will work closely with their manager on the product development processes to support in providing accurate reporting, data integrity, sample tracking and timeline management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist design manager with data entry, identifying issues, developing recommendations and ensuring resolution of open issues.
- Partner with manager to prepare for meetings – formulate recaps and reporting.
- Provides clear, concise, timely communication to manager.
- Helps track development samples from Concept through Line adopt and updates communication to cross-functional partners on outstanding issues with manager on copy.
- Supports day to day execution of the pipeline calendar due dates and key milestone meeting dates and initiatives.
- Supports Design with:
o Tech Packs
o Sketching – Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop
o Lab Dips /Trim Approvals
o Cut color swatches
o Sending packages
o Sample Management
o Presentation boards (mood boards/swatch boards/style boards)
o Follow up with factories on samples and submits
- Supports in communicating the tech design aspect of the production ensure that information communicated to internal/external partners is timely, accurate, complete and ready for execution.
- Ensure adequate degree of information is captured and available to interpret Design’s intent.
- Communicates potential sample tracking issues, due dates for production handoff and details for decision making purposes to assist manager in facilitation of time delivery, quality and efficiency in product development.
Requirements:
- Assistant: 0- 1 year experience in design/product development – internships count!
- Associate: minimum of 2 years of experience in design / product development. Experience in wholesale manufacturing or with a retailer, a plus – internships count!
- Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Design or Product Development.
- Knowledge of fabric, garment construction, and design aesthetic to support all categories of design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - clearly, concisely and directly.
- Detail oriented with a curiosity to learn about line building, brand curation and eager to problem solve.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and web-based applications.
