World Vision International

World Vision International is a Christian humanitarian organisation founded in 1950, running emergency relief, development and advocacy programmes across nearly 100 countries with over 30,000 staff.

World Vision International is a Christian humanitarian organisation founded in 1950 by Bob Pierce, initially in response to the suffering of children in war-torn Korea. It describes itself as the world's largest Christian humanitarian organisation, working alongside vulnerable children and families to create lasting change. The organisation employs over 30,000 staff and operates in nearly 100 countries worldwide.

Its work spans emergency relief, long-term development and advocacy. Programmatic areas include clean water, education, health and nutrition, child protection and livelihoods. In 2025 the organisation reached 70 million people with resources to overcome extreme poverty, and it has set a goal of equipping 300 million people by 2030.

Staffing is deliberately local: 95% of employees work in their home regions, and the organisation's stated approach is to work alongside communities rather than impose external solutions. Its operating model directs 86% of operating expenses straight to programmes, a figure it publishes in support of a stated commitment to transparency. The mission is expressed as being "powered by Christian faith", guided by founder Bob Pierce's motto, "Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God", and by the conviction that every child deserves life in all its fullness.
