Save the Children

Save the Children, founded in 1919, is a global children's organisation working in around 120 countries on emergency response, health, education, child protection and advocacy.

Save the Children is a global humanitarian movement dedicated to ensuring that every child survives, learns and is protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation. Founded in London in 1919 by Eglantyne Jebb, it describes itself as the world's first and largest independent children's organisation. Over the past century it says it has transformed the lives of more than one billion children in the United States and around the world, and it now operates in roughly 120 countries.

The organisation works across five principal areas. Emergency Response places it among the first to arrive and the last to leave when crisis strikes and children are most vulnerable. Health Programs aim to give children a healthy start in life, and Education Programs to give them the opportunity to learn while building resilient societies. Child Protection Programs address abuse, neglect and exploitation, and Advocacy seeks to advance children's rights and wellbeing.

Save the Children works collaboratively with communities, governments and partners, in line with its stated commitment to do whatever it takes for children, every day and in times of crisis. Its geographic footprint spans the United States, the United Kingdom and operations across around 120 countries, covering humanitarian aid, international development, child welfare, education, health, emergency response and policy.
