Trek Bicycle Corp

Trek Bicycle Corp designs and manufactures bicycles from its base in Waterloo, Wisconsin. The company was founded in 1976 in a small red barn in Waterloo, where it remains headquartered. Its stated mission is to change the world by getting more people on bikes, and its product development work spans bicycle design, bicycle engineering, and product testing and development.

The company builds bicycles to the original vision of building the best bicycles the world had ever seen, and states that it builds only products the team loves. Products are tested to their limits in the Break Room, an in-house facility for pushing designs and components. Trek operates within the cycling, bicycles and consumer sporting goods verticals.

Trek is employee-owned along with the founding family, and describes itself as a family company that values independence and a long-term perspective. Stated values include doing the right thing, making friends along the way, and getting better every day. Company traditions cited include lunch rides to keep the team connected to the joy of cycling, and hospitality towards customers; the team is described as driven by adventure and guided by company history.
