Cowboy
Cowboy designs and builds connected electric bikes in Belgium and France, with real-time adaptive power technology, for urban commuters in Europe and the US.
Cowboy is a Belgian e-bike maker, founded in 2017, that designs and builds connected electric bicycles intended as a daily commuter alternative to cars in cities. Its bikes are designed in Belgium and assembled in France from more than 200 parts, many of them put together by hand by skilled local experts. The company describes its aim as making urban cycling the most natural, joyful and efficient way to move through cities.
The engineering work spans several domains: e-bike design, electric powertrains, sensor technology and connected mobility. Its proprietary AdaptivePower system senses incline, wind and rider weight and adjusts power in real time, a feature that underpins much of the firm's hardware and software development. Employees work at the intersection of consumer hardware, real-time control systems and smart mobility.
Cowboy reports riders in more than 2,500 towns and cities across Europe and the United States, and describes itself as one of Europe's leading e-bike brands. In 2022 it became the first e-bike maker to achieve B Corp status, reflecting a stated commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. In December 2025 the company entered a partnership with ReBirth Group, aimed at long-term sustainability and more reliable delivery, and at better support for its community of riders.
