Founded in 1970, it delivers comprehensive primary and specialty care regardless of a patient's ability to pay, and no patient is turned away for that reason. The organisation employs more than 500 team members and is headquartered at 161 Jackson Street, Lowell, in a renovated historic mill building.
Services span Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Behavioral Health, Dental Care and Eye Care, alongside School-Based Health Centers, Mobile Health Units and community outreach programmes. The care model is integrated and patient-centred and extends beyond the exam room into schools and the wider community. The centre is recognised as a Patient-Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and is regarded as a national model for culturally competent care and community health innovation.
The workforce reflects the population it serves: staff speak 28 different languages, and at least 40 employees are trained medical interpreters.
