gaiia builds an AI-driven operating system for Internet Service Providers, intended to replace ageing OSS/BSS platforms with a single modern system. The gaiia platform is cloud-based and network-agnostic, and covers customer management, billing, inventory and fulfilment, network monitoring, workforce scheduling, operations, workflow automation, and reporting and analytics. It is aimed at ISPs and communication service providers across North America and Latin America.

The company's technical work spans artificial intelligence, cloud-based software, billing systems, network monitoring and workflow automation. Its stated ambition is to become the world's first network-agnostic operating system for connectivity.

gaiia was founded by telecommunications industry veterans - the team that previously built oxio, which was sold to Cogeco in a deal valued at $100m. The company has raised $13m in seed funding and is backed by Y Combinator, Kima Ventures and oxio alumni.
