Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN)

A nonprofit Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic delivering integrated mental health, addiction recovery, youth and family, crisis and community support services across Northern New York.

Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN) is a nonprofit Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) founded in 1874. It provides integrated mental health care, addiction recovery, youth and family services, crisis intervention and community support programmes across more than 20 sites in Northern New York, serving the North Country and the Capital Region. Its clinical work draws on evidence-based treatment and is designed to address the whole person rather than symptoms alone.

The organisation's service lines cover integrated mental health treatment, substance use and addiction recovery programming, youth and family services that extend its founding mission of caring for orphans and abandoned children, crisis intervention for individuals in acute need, and community-centred support programmes. Alongside clinical care, BHSN offers nutrition counselling and wellness coaching as part of its whole-person approach.

Staff work in collaborative, team-based settings that include psychiatrists, therapists, peer specialists and care navigators, guided by values of integrity and connection and a person-centred philosophy of meeting individuals where they are. Leadership is described as accessible, and BHSN University, an internal continuous learning and professional development programme, supports ongoing staff training.

BHSN is recognised nationally for clinical excellence and balanced care delivery. It has operated for more than 150 years and maintains a presence throughout New York State's northern counties and Capital Region.
