Vinfen

Vinfen is a nonprofit health and human services organisation providing community-based mental health, disability, brain injury and behavioural health services in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Vinfen is a nonprofit health and human services organisation founded in 1977 that provides community-based services to people with mental health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and behavioural health challenges. It operates more than 500 locations across Massachusetts and Connecticut, delivering 327 programmes and serving approximately 14,000 people each year.

Its services span recovery support, supported living for adolescents and adults, habilitation programmes focused on skill development and self-determination, education, and employment services for people with disabilities or life challenges. Clinical care is delivered in a recovery-oriented, person-centred manner, and peer support is offered alongside other programmes. A 24-hour crisis line provides round-the-clock support. Technical domains within the organisation include behavioural health, assistive technology, and clinical care.

The work is guided by a recovery-oriented, person-centred and strengths-based practice, with harm-reduction, trauma-informed and culturally competent approaches applied across services. As a mission-driven nonprofit, Vinfen also hosts community events, among them a film festival, a family celebration and a technology conference.
