Wherobots

Wherobots builds spatial data infrastructure - including WherobotsDB and RasterFlow - for AI systems working with satellite imagery, vector and raster data at scale.

Wherobots builds spatial data infrastructure designed to give AI systems a dependable understanding of the physical world. Its platform ingests and processes satellite imagery, vector geometries, raster data and location-aware business information, and is applied across asset management, operations, supply chains, climate exposure, infrastructure and physical-AI systems. The company was founded by the original creators of Apache Sedona, the open-source spatial computing project, which has recorded more than 80 million downloads.

Two products form the core of its offering. WherobotsDB is a distributed spatial analytics engine with a Rust-native execution layer, capable of processing vector and raster data and running spatial joins across billions of geometries. RasterFlow is a distributed, serverless engine for raster preparation and computer vision, supporting built-in or custom PyTorch models over satellite imagery.

The engineering work spans spatial computing, geospatial data engineering, distributed database systems, raster analytics, computer vision and machine learning, with particular depth in Apache Sedona and in Rust, SQL and Python data processing. The company's culture is rooted in open-source software development, and its tooling is built to fit the familiar SQL and Python workflows already used by data teams.
