Crate.io

Crate.io develops CrateDB, a distributed SQL database for real-time analytics on high-volume time-series, JSON, search and geospatial data, available open source or fully managed.

Crate.io is a real-time analytics database company founded in 2013 and headquartered in Redwood City, California, with a presence in the United States and Europe. It builds CrateDB, a distributed SQL database designed for live operational data at high volume and high cardinality, allowing data to be queried as soon as it is ingested rather than after batch processing or ETL.

CrateDB combines the simplicity of standard SQL with the scalability of a distributed system, and supports six data models in a single query: time-series, JSON documents, full-text search, vector search, geospatial and relational data. The database ingests millions of events per second and makes them immediately available for querying. It is released under the Apache 2.0 licence and can be deployed on-premises, at the edge, in the cloud, or as CrateDB Cloud, a fully managed offering.

The company's technology is applied across manufacturing, energy, logistics, oil and gas, transportation, media and entertainment, and SaaS. Its technical work spans distributed SQL databases, real-time analytics, time-series data, JSON document storage, full-text and vector search, geospatial processing, high-cardinality data handling, stream ingestion and open-source database development.

Crate.io operates a globally distributed team with offices in the United States and Europe, working towards a shared aim of helping companies draw immediate insights from data without the constraints of batch processing or pre-aggregation. Its open-source orientation and flexible deployment options are central to how the product is built and delivered.
