Twipe

Belgian mediatech scale-up providing cloud-based digital edition publishing, reader analytics and personalisation tools for newspaper publishers in Europe and the US.

Twipe is a Belgian mediatech scale-up, founded in 2011 and based in Leuven, that provides cloud-based digital edition publishing, reader analytics and personalisation tools for newspaper publishers. Its stated aim is to help publishers grow digital subscriptions and sustain quality journalism as news consumption shifts online. The company works with publishers across Europe and the United States, and collaborates with research institutes and academia on innovation in the news industry.

Its products centre on the News Experience Platform, covering mobile apps, digital editions, personalised triggers and reader analytics. Twipe's digital edition publishing solution supports more than 100 newspapers across Europe, in both ePaper and modern digital edition formats. Personalised newsletters and triggers are designed to raise subscriber engagement and reduce churn; The Times and The Sunday Times recorded a 49% reduction in churn after using them. In total, around 2 million people read on the platform each day, spending an average of 22 minutes a day in the apps.

Technical work spans cloud-based digital publishing, mobile app development, data analytics, personalisation and recommendation systems. The company describes itself as mission-driven, focused on helping newspapers adapt to the digital age. It runs a Future of News community to gather and share industry knowledge and hosts events such as the Digital Growth Summit, and reports earning multiple awards since 2011.
