Penguin Ai builds a healthcare-native agentic AI operating system designed to remove administrative work from clinicians, coders and operations teams at health insurers and providers. The company targets a problem it puts at $1 trillion a year: the cost of inefficiency in healthcare administration. It has raised $29.7m in venture funding.

The Penguin Ai Platform combines task-specific Small Language Models (SLMs), Digital Workers and agents within a full-service healthcare AI platform. It automates prior authorisations, claims processing, medical records summarisation and appeals management, and integrates with EHRs, payer platforms, practice management tools and data warehouses through a flexible integration layer. Human review is configurable on every workflow, reflecting a human-in-the-loop design philosophy. The technical work spans agentic AI, natural language processing and workflow automation, with partnerships including Snowflake and AWS.

The company was founded by the former Chief Data Officer of Kaiser Permanente, UnitedHealthcare and Optum. Its stated mission is to reduce inefficiency in healthcare administration, and its focus areas include clinical operations, medical coding, and revenue cycle and claims management.
