Lovable

Lovable is a software company founded in 2023 that builds an AI platform allowing people without technical skills to turn ideas into working web applications. Its stated aim is to widen access to software creation: the company notes that fewer than 1% of the world's population can currently code, and it positions its technology as a way to address that gap. The company's origins lie in open source. GPT Engineer, a tool created by Anton Osika in mid-2023 while he was at Depict, demonstrated that large language models could write functional code from simple prompts. The repository became one of the fastest-growing on GitHub at the time. A commercial product, initially called GPT Engineer App and described as an attempt to build "the last piece of software", was built on those foundations and rebranded to Lovable in December 2024.
