Hospice of Northwest Ohio

Non-profit, community-based hospice and palliative care provider serving the greater Toledo region since 1979, with inpatient, home-based and bereavement services.

Hospice of Northwest Ohio is a non-profit, community-based hospice provider serving individuals and families in the greater Toledo region. Founded in 1979 by volunteers, it was the first independent, non-profit hospice in the greater Toledo area and is now the largest hospice care provider in the region. The organisation operates three hospice centres, in Perrysburg, Toledo and Sylvania, delivering care both in inpatient settings and in patients' homes.

Its clinical work centres on pain management, symptom control, and emotional and spiritual support for patients and their families. Alongside hospice services, Hospice of Northwest Ohio runs the Sincera Palliative Care Program, which aims to improve quality of life for people living with serious illness.

Care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team that includes five physicians and ten advanced practice nurses devoted entirely to end-of-life care, together with registered nurses, social workers and bereavement counsellors. The organisation's bereavement programme serves both hospice families and the wider community through counselling and support groups, and includes Path Finders Camp, a programme for grieving children and teenagers.
