Grace-Mar Services Inc
Charlotte-based nonprofit providing AI literacy, digital skills and workforce training, SNAP Employment and Training services and housing counselling.
Grace-Mar Services Inc is a nonprofit based in Charlotte, North Carolina, founded in 2009 by Kenneth and Grace Smith in the aftermath of the Great Recession. It began as a housing counselling agency supporting families through the financial crisis and has since evolved into a workforce reentry hub working across artificial intelligence, workforce innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership and community systems development. Its stated focus is economic mobility for marginalised groups, including displaced workers, minorities and low-to-moderate income families.
The organisation runs AI literacy programmes, certifications and digital skills training, delivered in partnership with technology companies such as Microsoft. It also operates as a SNAP Employment and Training provider, helping participants build skills and find work, and continues to offer housing counselling services. Its activities are organised around five areas of change: AI and the future of work, economic mobility, entrepreneurship, families and communities, and leadership and systems innovation.
Recognition for the organisation includes a NAHRO award in 2012, selection in the SmartCEO Future 50 in 2017, and a Guinness World Record achieved with Microsoft in 2025 for AI training initiatives.
