Foodforecast, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Cologne, Germany, develops AI-powered demand forecasting software for the food-retail industry. Its platform delivers intra-day predictions for ultra-fresh products and automates production and ordering across bakeries, supermarkets and food-service operations, replacing manual planning. The system integrates with existing point-of-sale and inventory management software.

The company's technical work spans machine learning, predictive analytics, demand forecasting and process automation. Its stated outcomes for customers include a 30% reduction in food waste, an 11% increase in sales, and the automation of more than 90% of ordering decisions. In 2023 the company reported that 4,000 tons of food waste had been saved across its customer base.

Foodforecast launched in the European market in 2022 and reports deployments in several thousand stores across multiple European countries. It raised €3 million in a Series A round in 2024. The company has set a long-term target of saving €10 billion worth of food over the next decade, and frames its work around sustainability and the elimination of food waste.
