eleQtron GmbH

Germany's first quantum computing hardware startup, building freely programmable trapped-ion quantum computers using proprietary MAGIC microwave-control technology.

eleQtron GmbH, founded in 2020 and based in Siegen and Hamburg, is Germany's first quantum computing hardware startup. The company develops and operates freely programmable trapped-ion quantum computers built on its proprietary MAGIC (Magnetic Gradient Induced Coupling) technology, which substitutes precise microwave control for the lasers traditionally used to manipulate qubits. This approach is intended to make qubit control more scalable, robust and accurate, and the firm grew out of a university research group with the aim of turning theoretical quantum research into industrial-grade systems.

The company's technology spans quantum processor development, microwave-based qubit control, quantum software stacks and integration with high-performance computing. Its MAGIC-based systems are aimed at applications in materials research, pharmaceuticals, logistics, finance, supply chain management and aerospace. eleQtron has signed contracts worth approximately €82m with DLR to supply quantum computing systems, and was named a Technology Pioneer 2025 by the World Economic Forum.

eleQtron has secured over €50m in total funding, including a €16m seed round led by Earlybird. The company employs more than 90 international experts across its two German locations, Siegen and Hamburg.
