Center for Family and Child Enrichment

A Miami-Dade County nonprofit founded in 1977 providing counseling, family support and healthcare services to more than 5,000 vulnerable children and families a year.

The Center for Family and Child Enrichment (CFCE) is a private, nonprofit, community-based organisation founded in 1977 to serve vulnerable children and families across Miami-Dade County, Florida. It works with abused, neglected and abandoned children, chronic runaways and families in difficulty, delivering services through contracts with lead agencies for community-based care. The organisation reports serving more than 5,000 children and families a year and has operated for nearly five decades.

CFCE's work is organised around three primary service areas: Counseling & Therapy, Family & Community Support Programs and Quality Healthcare. Counseling and therapy services include in-home family counselling, behavioural health provision and training programmes for children and parents. Family and community support covers residential group care, foster care and adoption services, youth intervention programmes and legal assistance, with attorneys employed to help families through court procedures.

Healthcare is delivered through the Pediatric & Family Health and Wellness Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) opened in 2012. The centre provides general and sick care for adults and children, OB/GYN, dental services, nutrition programmes, and mental health and substance abuse treatment. CFCE describes itself as a mission-driven organisation with the motto "cherishing children and building stronger communities", applying a community-based, family-centred model across its programmes.
