Benedictine

Benedictine is a Catholic nonprofit senior living and health system operating 35-plus communities across five upper Midwest states, offering assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, rehabilitation and hospice services.

Benedictine is a mission-based nonprofit health system and one of the largest Catholic senior living organisations in the United States. Founded in 1985 by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth, Minnesota, the organisation operates more than 35 communities across five states in the upper Midwest and employs thousands of associates. Its headquarters is in Fridley, Minnesota, and its founding community remains in Duluth.

The organisation provides a full spectrum of care and housing services for ageing adults. These include independent senior housing, assisted living, long-term skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation for those recovering from illness or injury, specialised memory care for residents with cognitive impairment, and hospice and palliative care. Work spans healthcare and skilled nursing, rehabilitation services, senior living operations and faith-based health-system management.

Benedictine describes itself as a Catholic care ministry dedicated to advancing the senior care work of its founding religious community. Its stated core values are Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice, and it commits to a particular concern for the underserved, working to make quality senior care accessible to all who need it. The organisation frames its Benedictine Living Communities as places where health, wellness and choice come to life for every resident.
