1X

1X Technologies develops general-purpose humanoid robots, including the consumer home robot NEO and the industrial robot EVE, powered by its Redwood AI model.

1X Technologies builds general-purpose humanoid robots for consumer and industrial use. Founded in 2014 as Halodi Robotics and rebranded to 1X in 2023, the company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and has raised over $126 million across multiple funding rounds. Its stated mission is an abundant society built on general-purpose robots that live and learn alongside humans.

The company's product line spans two humanoid platforms and the AI system behind them. NEO is described as the world's first consumer-ready home robot: 5'6" tall and weighing 66 lbs, it lifts 154 lbs and performs household tasks such as vacuuming, folding laundry and retrieving items. Its tendon-driven actuators are inspired by human musculature, and the machine operates more quietly than a refrigerator. Early access is slated for 2026 against a $200 deposit. EVE, an industrial humanoid, is deployed in customer facilities globally. Both are powered by Redwood AI, a proprietary generalist model trained through reinforcement learning, expert demonstrations and real-world robot data.

Technical work spans humanoid robotics, tendon-driven actuators, reinforcement learning, generalist AI models and autonomous household robotics. The team is rapidly scaling, with 87 open roles, and the company is backed by OpenAI.
