Key Responsibilities:
- Material Coordination: Coordinate the release and on-time delivery of packaging materials from suppliers to align with the production schedule and MRP requirements.
- MRP Management: Review the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system report daily to determine material needs and execute purchase releases.
- Supplier Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers regarding releases, delivery schedules, and expediting orders. Proactively communicate any supplier delays to Scheduling, Production, and Sales teams.
- Inventory Control: Maintain optimal inventory levels of materials to support production while avoiding overstock. Request cycle counts as needed to ensure system inventory accuracy.
- Quality & Accuracy Assurance:
- Communicate any material quality issues to the appropriate supplier and the Purchasing Manager.
- Verify the accuracy of system receipts against supplier Bills of Lading (BoLs).
- Ensure all incoming materials from suppliers are properly labeled according to standards.
- Data Management: Accurately input all material releases to suppliers in a timely manner and communicate any price changes to the Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems is essential.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage constantly changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities, especially when expediting materials or resolving delivery issues.
