The Company & The Role:
This is a full-time position with a respected Houston-based general contractor known for delivering quality commercial and industrial builds across Texas. The team specializes in ground-up, tilt-wall, and large-scale developments, including warehouses, logistics centers, and commercial facilities.
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager throughout the full construction lifecycle-from permitting and buyout to scheduling and closeout. This role offers strong growth potential for individuals ready to step into a leadership role over time.
Responsibilities:
Assist in preconstruction activities, including permitting, utility coordination, and plan review
Coordinate subcontractor and vendor communication
Track and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders
Help with preparing and issuing contracts and purchase orders
Collaborate with Superintendents to align field progress with project schedule
Participate in jobsite walks, OAC meetings, and client updates
Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
Travel to Houston-area job sites as needed
Role Requirements:
2-4 years of experience in commercial construction (tilt-wall or industrial preferred)
Ability to manage documentation and coordinate with field and office teams
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction platforms
Preferred Skills or Experience:
Experience supporting projects valued at $5M+
Understanding of subcontractor buyout and cost tracking
Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
Knowledge of permitting processes and city coordination within Texas
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification a plus
Must be based in the Houston metro area or willing to relocate
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
