Position Overview
Ellsworth & Ivey is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Assistant Buyer to support the Buying team across our retail stores, The Skinny Dip and Ellsworth & Ivey. The Assistant Buyer will play a key role in merchandise selection, inventory tracking, vendor communication, and data analysis, helping to ensure a smooth and efficient buying process.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about fashion buying who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for products, and a proactive attitude.
This is a remote position; those located within driving distance to New York City are ideal.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandise Support:
- Assist in the execution of seasonal buying strategies aligned with the brand’s vision and customer profile
- Help curate product assortments by conducting trend research and market analysis
- Support with sample management, line sheet reviews, and product setup
Inventory Support & Management:
- Track and manage inventory levels across multiple locations and categories
- Help implement replenishment strategies and flag low inventory or overstock risks
- Coordinate with fulfillment teams to monitor delivery timelines and stock movement
Vendor Communication:
- Liaise with vendors to gather product information, order updates, and samples
- Assist with order entry, confirmations, and troubleshooting delivery or invoicing issues
- Maintain organized records of vendor terms, communications, and purchase history
Data Entry & Analysis:
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales and inventory reports
- Assist in compiling Open to Buy, category performance, and sell-through analysis
- Support markdown tracking and promo performance reporting
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with marketing, visual merchandising, and store teams to support seasonal product launches and promotions
- Assist in creating product knowledge tools and supporting assets for internal use
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in a buying, planning, or retail merchandising role
- Passion for fashion, trends, and the retail industry
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Visual merchandising experience or interest is a bonus
Compensation:
- The base salary for this position falls between $50,000-$55,000 based on experience and qualifications
