We're seeking a Senior Manager, Retail Business Development to lead our specialty retail partnerships and pioneer new business opportunities. This role is about innovating and thinking differently, pushing beyond traditional licensing to explore co-creating fan-first product launches, experiential retail activations, and developing strategic partnerships that deepen our connection with fans globally. Responsibilities
- Drive strategy and execution for specialty retail partnerships (Fan, Fashion, Department, Beauty, etc.) and new business channels, focusing on innovation, fan engagement, and profitability.
- Identify, develop, and manage relationships with new retail partners to meet our fans where they are and expand our IP’s reach.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Licensing, Product Development, Marketing, Brand Strategy, and external partners to build integrated launch plans that bring our IP to life in fresh and meaningful ways.
- Develop a deep understanding of our fans and their relationship with our IP, using these insights to inform and strengthen retail partnerships and pitches.
- Monitor entertainment, retail and consumer trends globally, leveraging insights to proactively recommend new business opportunities.
- Work closely with internal strategy and finance teams to set KPIs and track success.
- Represent Netflix IP’s brand ethos and storytelling through every retail touchpoint, ensuring consistency and authenticity.
- Understand the priorities and complexities of cross-functional teams, such as content, marketing, publicity, PR, social, brand partnerships, and ads, and how consumer products benefit and support their work.
Qualifications
- 12+ years experience in retail business development, specialty retail management, or strategic brand partnerships/business development, preferably in entertainment, consumer products, or lifestyle brands.
- Proven ability to develop and execute creative, high-impact partnerships and go-to-market strategies.
- Exceptional relationship-builder with established contacts in specialty retail and new business channels.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of identifying and developing new market opportunities that drive significant business results.
- Strong leadership and development skills.
- Excellent communication and storytelling/presentation skills.
- Passion for entertainment, pop culture, and Netflix IP, with a keen eye for translating storytelling into tangible consumer experiences.
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $250,000 - $515,000.
