AVM Group is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of our specialty construction projects, including cleanrooms, dryrooms, radiation shielding vaults, and specialized doors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to assist Project Managers in all phases of project delivery, from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires a proactive individual with a commitment to accuracy, quality, and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-Construction Support:
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of the project requirements.
- Assist in the development of project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFI's (Requests for Information), and other project-related documentation.
- Assist in the coordination of pre-construction meetings and site investigations.
- Research and analyze technical data and vendor information.
- Project Execution Support:
- Assist the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of projects.
- Track project progress and identify potential deviations from the schedule or budget.
- Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review shop drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare and distribute project status reports.
- Assist in the management of change orders and their impact on the project.
- Monitor on-site construction activities to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
- Technical Support & Problem Solving:
- Provide technical support to the project team and field personnel.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of project issues and discrepancies
- Research and recommend solutions to technical challenges.
- Quality Control & Documentation:
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of quality control procedures
- Maintain organized and accurate project files and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and project closeout documents
- Specialized Project Knowledge:
- Develop an understanding of the specific technical requirements for cleanroom, dryroom, and radiation shielding vault construction.
- Learn about relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 14644 for cleanrooms) and building codes.
- Assist in the coordination with specialized vendors and the review of their technical documentation.
- Safety:
- Promote and support a safe work environment.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all company and job site safety regulations.
This role is local to Cleveland, with rare overnight travel to support National Projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related), or a relevant technical field
- Entry-level candidates and those with 1-3 years of experience in construction or project support roles are encouraged to apply
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents
- Exceptional computer skills and the capacity to learn new software quickly
