Whitfield Regional Hospital

A 99-bed hospital in Demopolis, Alabama, providing more than 30 medical services, tele-ICU, home health, specialty clinics and mobile care to the West Alabama Black Belt region since 1953.

Whitfield Regional Hospital is a 99-bed hospital in Demopolis, Alabama, operated by the Tombigbee Healthcare Authority. Founded in 1953 with 29 beds and 25 employees, it provides more than 30 medical services to residents of West Alabama's Black Belt region. The hospital's work spans inpatient care, critical care, specialty clinical services, home health and mobile healthcare delivery.

The hospital was the first in Alabama to join UAB Medicine's tele-ICU program, under which intensivists remotely monitor critically ill patients. Its technical domains include tele-ICU and remote ICU monitoring, critical care, home health services, mobile healthcare and specialty clinical care.

Services extend beyond the hospital campus through home health programmes, specialty clinics and mobile healthcare options intended to make care accessible to community members regardless of their circumstances. Leadership is provided by CEO Doug Brewer.

The organisation operates under a "100/0" philosophy, in which every team member takes complete responsibility for patient, family and physician satisfaction. Patient-first, compassionate care is described as a daily practice rather than an aspiration.
