Huntsville Hospital
A not-for-profit regional healthcare system in North Alabama and southern Tennessee running 2,500+ beds, a Level I Trauma Center and UAB residency programmes since 1895.
Huntsville Hospital is a not-for-profit regional healthcare system headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, and operating hospitals and medical facilities across a 16-county service area covering North Alabama and southern Tennessee. Founded in 1895, the system employs around 20,000 team members, making it one of the largest employers in the region, and runs more than 2,500 patient beds across its facilities.
The Huntsville main campus serves as the system's regional referral center and houses a Level I Trauma Center, one of only three in Alabama. Clinical work spans healthcare delivery, trauma care and regional referral medicine. The organisation is also a teaching facility for UAB's Family Practice and Internal Medicine residency programmes, training new healthcare providers alongside its clinical staff.
Governance sits with the Health Care Authority of the City of Huntsville, so the system answers to the community rather than to shareholders. Its stated commitments include providing care regardless of ability to pay and keeping access to care close to home for residents of its service area.
