UofL Health is the not-for-profit 501(c)(3) health system operated by University Medical Center, Inc. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, it is a fully integrated regional academic health system employing more than 14,000 team members and serving over 1.5 million patients a year. Its workforce includes more than 1,200 physicians, surgeons, nurses and specialised healthcare professionals working across 100+ specialties.

The system comprises nine hospitals, four medical centres and more than 250 physician practice locations across Louisville and surrounding counties. Specialist facilities include the Brown Cancer Center for cancer treatment and research, and the Eye Institute for ophthalmology. Physician practice locations combine academic physicians with community practitioners delivering primary and specialty care.

An affiliation with the University of Louisville School of Medicine links research, clinical trials, medical education and patient care within one organisation. Clinical and technical domains span clinical research, oncology, ophthalmology, academic medicine and transplant surgery; the system performed the world's first successful hand transplant and has pioneered robotic histotripsy. Its stated care philosophy is compassionate, innovative and patient-centred, treating simple medical issues with the same expertise as complex cases. The organisation traces its institutional heritage to the Louisville Marine Hospital of 1823.
