The Charleston Place is a luxury hotel occupying a full city block in Charleston's historic district, with entrances on both King and Meeting streets. Opened in 1986 as part of Mayor Joe Riley's plan to make Charleston a world-class travel destination, it is the largest luxury hotel in the city. The property offers 433 rooms and suites, more than 40,000 square feet of event space, a full-service spa, a reimagined rooftop pool with a retractable glass roof, and award-wining dining that includes a collaboration with Chef Daniel Humm. The Shops at Charleston Place house an exclusive collection of high-end retailers, including Louis Vuitton.
The hotel was acquired in late 2021 for $350m by Beemok Hospitality Collection, the group backed by local philanthropist Ben Navarro. Under new ownership the property has been run with what it describes as renewed passion and purpose, and with an emphasis on the warm Southern hospitality that defines Charleston's character. Its design blends historic Southern charm with contemporary luxury.
Operations span hospitality, food and beverage, events and luxury retail, with business functions covering front-of-house and housekeeping services, restaurants and bars, weddings and meetings, spa and wellness, and retail management.
