Texas Health and Human Services encompasses the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is a state government agency that coordinates emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation efforts across Texas to protect Texans from all-hazard emergencies and disasters. Its jurisdiction covers the State of Texas, reaching all communities throughout the state, with a presence within the United States more broadly.
The agency's work is organised around four areas: disaster information resources, which deliver critical disaster information to communities throughout Texas; emergency preparedness resources and comprehensive planning materials for communities across the state; training activities that support emergency management capabilities; and the coordination of emergency response efforts in partnership with local, state and federal partners.
TDEM operates across government and public-sector, emergency management, disaster response and recovery, and public safety.
