Reliable Robotics Corporation
Reliable Robotics develops certifiable autonomous flight systems for gate-to-gate automated operation, deploying the technology through a cargo airline and testing uncrewed aircraft within the National Airspace System.
Reliable Robotics Corporation develops certifiable autonomous flight systems designed to keep the autopilot engaged through every phase of flight, including auto-taxi, auto-takeoff and auto-landing. The aim is gate-to-gate automated operation, making air transportation safer, more convenient and more accessible. The company's engineers work in the belief that aircraft should fly themselves, and pursue certification of safety-critical automation rather than operation outside the regulated system.
The technology is being put to work through Reliable Airlines, a cargo airline operation intended to deploy autonomous flight in real-world cargo operations. In 2019 the company remotely piloted an uncrewed Cessna 172 over a populated region of Northern California, with no one onboard. Reliable Robotics holds a contract with NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate covering uncrewed aircraft systems testing at airports and in cargo operations.
Technical work spans autonomous flight systems, remotely piloted and uncrewed aircraft systems, gate-to-gate automation, safety-critical systems certification, robotics and aerospace engineering, together with integration of uncrewed aircraft into the National Airspace System. The company collaborates closely with regulators, including the FAA and NASA. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, it runs a distributed workforce across the globe, drawing engineers from aviation, aerospace and robotics companies.
Its founding premise is that expanding access to more places through automated aviation requires meeting the highest safety standards, and that certification is the route to achieving this at scale in United States airspace.
