Orchard Robotics
Orchard Robotics builds AI and computer-vision systems, including FruitScope Vision and FruitScope OS, that image every fruit in the field and give growers data for farming decisions.
Orchard Robotics builds AI-powered precision agriculture technology that automates farms through data collection, giving growers visibility into their crops. Founded in 2022 and based in the United States, the company applies computer vision, machine learning and high-resolution imaging to orchard and speciality fruit production. It has raised over $25 million in funding.
The company's products are FruitScope Vision, a camera and imaging system that mounts on tractors and farm vehicles and captures ultra-high-resolution images of every fruit as farmers drive through their fields, and FruitScope OS, the software platform on which growers use the captured data to inform decisions about pruning, spraying, irrigation and harvesting. The technology is deployed across some of the largest apple, grape, blueberry and cherry farms in the nation.
Orchard Robotics was founded by Charlie Wu, a Thiel Fellow who dropped out of Cornell University to start the company, whose family history includes apple farming by his grandparents in China. The firm states a mission of making agriculture more profitable, efficient and sustainable, and works with fruit researchers and academics.
