Isar Aerospace develops Spectrum, a privately funded European launch vehicle for small and medium satellites, with in-house propulsion, manufacturing and testing across five locations.
Isar Aerospace builds Europe's first fully privately funded launch vehicle for small and medium satellites, with the stated aim of providing sovereign European access to space. The company employs more than 400 people across five international locations and has raised €400 million in funding.
Its product is Spectrum, a launch vehicle tailored to small and medium satellites, intended to serve satellite constellations, IoT networks, climate monitoring and communications infrastructure. Production capacity is planned at 40 rockets per year, supported by a 40,000-square-metre production facility.
The engineering programme spans rocket propulsion, launch vehicle development, carbon-composite structures, additive manufacturing and advanced manufacturing. The company pursues vertical integration, developing, manufacturing and testing in-house rather than outsourcing core elements.
Mission statements centre on European space sovereignty and widening access to space, with an emphasis on sustainability. Applications cited include climate change, agricultural resource optimisation and connecting the unconnected.
