Driscoll Health System

Driscoll Health System operates Driscoll Children's Hospital, a regional pediatric referral center that has provided specialised medical care to children across South Texas since 1953. The hospital serves more than 150,000 patients a year, drawing families from the Coastal Bend to the Rio Grande Valley, and provides care regardless of a family's ability to pay. It was founded by Clara Driscoll from a charitable vision as a 25-bed facility and has spent over 70 years developing paediatric services in the region.

Clinical work spans more than 32 medical specialties and 13 surgical specialties, covering children with serious illnesses, injuries, and rare conditions. The hospital has a record of regional firsts: it was the first in South Texas to open emergency services devoted exclusively to children, and the first in the region to perform organ transplants.

The organisation describes itself as mission-driven and non-profit in ethos, with a stated commitment that every child deserves the best available care and a service focus on underserved communities across South Texas. Its rallying motto among staff is "together, we heal".
