Dialysis Clinic, Inc.

Dialysis Clinic, Inc. is a not-for-profit kidney care provider offering dialysis, transplant and end-of-life services at over 270 locations in 30 U.S. states.

Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (DCI) is the largest not-for-profit dialysis provider in the United States and the only national, independent, not-for-profit dialysis provider in the country. Founded in 1971 in Nashville, Tennessee, the organisation today serves more than 14,000 patients at over 270 locations across 30 states. Its stated mission is that "the care of the patient is our reason for existence".

DCI delivers care across the kidney health continuum. Services include in-center hemodialysis, home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, alongside kidney health management, transplant support and end-of-life care for patients with kidney failure. Two subsidiaries extend this reach: REACH Kidney Care, which operates along the broader kidney health continuum, and DCI Donor Services, which is involved in organ and tissue donor services.

The organisation has been not-for-profit since its founding. Its founders declined to profit from patients who lacked insurance coverage in the years before Medicare extended coverage to end-stage renal disease; early operations were sustained by donations collected at Nashville intersections. Excess revenues are earmarked for research and education in kidney disease, and DCI states that it continues to invest in innovative care delivery models while maintaining its not-for-profit status.

Technical and clinical work at DCI spans dialysis treatment delivery, kidney health management, transplant services, end-of-life care and innovation in care delivery models.
