Copperweld

Copperweld manufactures copper-clad steel and copper-clad aluminium wires, cables and grounding conductors for power, utility, building and communications infrastructure, from U.S. plants and a Brentwood, Tennessee headquarters.

Copperweld, founded in 1915 in Rankin, Pennsylvania and now headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, manufactures bimetallic conductors: copper-clad steel (CCS) and copper-clad aluminium (CCA) wires and cables used in electrical infrastructure. The company describes itself as the world's largest manufacturer of bimetallic conductors and operates what it says are the only U.S. manufacturing facilities for CCS and CCA wire, supplying customers worldwide from plants in the mid-south of the United States.

Its product range covers copper-clad steel and copper-clad aluminium conductors for critical infrastructure applications, the ArcAngel and Century Grid grounding conductor lines for power grid and utility use, and building wire for residential and commercial construction. End markets include building construction, power grids, utilities, communications, transportation and the wider wire and cable sector.

Technical work spans metallurgy, bimetallic conductor technology, wire and cable engineering and grounding conductor systems, with a value-engineering approach to product design. The company employs engineers tasked with testing, manufacturing, optimising and customising its products, and frames its role as that of a critical domestic supplier to U.S. electrical infrastructure. Its stated motto is "Wired to Protect." The business has been in operation for more than 110 years.
