CareOregon, Inc. is a nonprofit, community-based health care organization and health plan founded in 1994 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon. It provides Medicaid and Medicare managed care benefits to low-income Oregonians, serving more than 500,000 members and ranking as the largest health plan serving Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members in the state. Its work spans Medicaid managed care, Medicare managed care, integrated medical, dental and behavioral health benefits, care coordination, and efforts addressing community health and the social determinants of health.
Within the CareOregon family of organizations are several distinct entities: Columbia Pacific CCO and Jackson Care Connect, coordinated care organizations serving OHP members in the Columbia Pacific region and Jackson County respectively; CareOregon Advantage, a Medicare Advantage plan; CareOregon Dental; and Housecall Providers, an in-home medical care organization. CareOregon also operates statewide through Health Share of Oregon and partners with the Oregon Health Authority.
The organization describes its mission as inspiring and partnering with others to create quality and equity in individual and community health, with a vision of healthy communities for all people. Equitable access to quality health care regardless of income or background is a stated focus, as is a collaborative orientation across its partnerships. CareOregon invests millions in local communities each year, including support for housing, food security and transportation, and has operated for over 30 years.
