Associação Porto Digital is a Portuguese non-profit private association founded in 2004 by the Porto City Council and the University of Porto. Its remit is to support urban digital transformation in the city of Porto and its metropolitan area, accelerating municipal innovation and digital transition strategies and promoting digital technology projects across the region.
The association works in digital technologies, smart city platforms, innovation and experimentation, and digital public services. Its main initiatives include the Plataforma Urbana do Porto, a set of digital services aimed at improving citizens' quality of life; ScaleUp Porto, a programme within the municipal innovation and competitiveness strategy covering employment, economic development, internationalisation and citizen well-being; and the 'Toolbox' of the Municipality of Porto, an operational function focused on public service efficiency and its effect on daily life.
Associação Porto Digital operates across Porto, the Porto Metropolitan Area and Portugal, spanning the smart cities and urban innovation, public sector and municipal services, digital technology, economic development and sustainable urban development sectors. Its operating model is a partnership between public authorities and academia, structured around innovation, experimentation and collaboration, with an explicit focus on sustainable and inclusive development and on citizen-centred public services.
