Airalo

Airalo is a travel technology company operating an online store for affordable eSIM data packages, giving international travellers mobile connectivity without physical SIM cards or roaming fees.

Airalo, founded in 2019, operates what it describes as the world's first eSIM store: an online marketplace selling digital data packages to international travellers. The service addresses the cost and inconvenience of mobile roaming by allowing users to purchase and install eSIM data plans without a physical SIM card, with connectivity available within minutes. The company reports coverage across more than 200 countries and regions, over 20 million users served, and more than 100 million eSIM downloads facilitated.

The company is active in travel technology, telecommunications and consumer mobile services. It raised a $60m Series B round and has been valued at more than $1bn, giving it unicorn status. Technical work spans eSIM technology, digital SIM and mobile connectivity, and the platform underpinning the marketplace.

Airalo is remote-first, with a team distributed across six continents and more than 50 countries represented. Its stated values are ownership, empathy, authenticity and iteration. The company has also pursued social initiatives: a Clean Water Initiative built a well in Babou, Cameroon; the Airalo Children Fund sponsors children in developing countries through partnerships including Children International; and the firm has mobilised relief efforts for Ukraine, Myanmar and Australia.
