Agility Robotics
Agility Robotics designs and manufactures humanoid robots, including Digit, for industrial work, and builds them at its RoboFab factory in Salem, Oregon.
Agility Robotics builds humanoid robots intended to work alongside people in industrial settings. The company was founded in 2015 as a spin-off from Oregon State University's Dynamic Robotics Lab and now employs more than 200 people across three sites: Salem, Oregon; Pittsburgh; and Fremont, California. Its stated aim is to address labour shortages in physically demanding industries, among them warehousing, manufacturing, distribution, logistics and automotive.
Its principal product is Digit, a bipedal humanoid robot designed for tasks that call for human-like flexibility and adaptation. Agility Robotics describes Digit as the first humanoid robot to be commercially deployed in warehouses, manufacturing facilities and distribution centres. The company also operates RoboFab, a full-scale humanoid-robot factory in Salem, Oregon, with a peak capacity of 10,000 robots a year.
Technical work spans bipedal locomotion, artificial intelligence, simulation training and manufacturing. The company works with NVIDIA and Google DeepMind and has evolved from research-focused origins into commercial production. Its three locations cover research, engineering and factory operations.
