Adult & Teen Challenge
Faith-based addiction recovery ministry founded in 1958, running 12-18 month Christ-centered residential programs through 215+ centres in the US and Canada.
Adult & Teen Challenge (ATC) is a faith-based addiction recovery ministry founded in 1958 by Rev. David Wilkerson. Headquartered in Ozark, Missouri, the organisation runs Christ-centered residential programs for adults and teens dealing with addiction and other life-controlling issues, and describes itself as one of the largest ministries of its kind worldwide.
Its core offering is a long-term residential recovery program typically lasting 12 to 18 months, combining discipleship, mentoring relationships, evangelism and life-skills training. Program elements focus on applying biblical principles to daily life and establishing healthy patterns for lasting change. ATC reports a 78% success rate for program completers. The ministry operates a network of more than 215 residential centres across the United States and Canada.
The organisation's stated approach centres on transformation through the Holy Spirit and God's Word rather than clinical treatment alone, with a mission focused on hope and freedom for individuals and families affected by addiction. It works across the addiction recovery, faith-based ministry, nonprofit and social services, and residential behavioural health sectors, and has operated for more than six decades.
ATC is accredited by the ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability) and holds a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. Further information is available at teenchallengeusa.org.
