Short Description: Seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead the design strategy and execution for the full redesign of Website. The designer will be responsible for creating an accessible, responsive, and intuitive interface that serves multiple user groups and reflects the McCormick Place brand and Chicago's destination appeal.
Responsibilities:
- Design 3 wireframes and mockups as part of the redesign concept phase.
- Finalize a responsive UI mockup that reflects brand themes: innovation, luxury, sustainability, and flexibility.
- Integrate interactive UI elements (e.g., sliders, maps, callouts, social feeds, countdowns).
Responsive & Accessible Design
- Deliver fully responsive UI designs for mobile, tablet, and desktop views.
- Ensure full compliance with ADA accessibility standards and multilingual support (including Spanish).
- Implement “mobile-first” principles for optimal performance and UX across devices.
Content & Visual Layout
- Collaborate on SEO-optimized layouts, audience-specific landing pages, and blog-style editorial templates.
- Design content landing pages with interactive components (e.g., polls, videos, sliders).
- Ensure UI supports personalization options for different audiences (e.g., planners vs. job seekers).
Design System & Handoff
- Create scalable, modular UI components compatible with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
- Provide pixel-perfect design assets and style guides to development teams for implementation.
- Support creation of documentation to allow MPEA staff to manage updates through a visual CMS editor.
UX Testing & Optimization
- Participate in usability reviews and iterative improvement of navigation and interaction patterns.
- Support post-launch enhancements and ongoing optimization recommendations.
Required:
- 5+ years in UI/UX design for public-facing, responsive websites
- Experience delivering wireframes, prototypes, and design systems
- Deep understanding of accessibility (WCAG/ADA), SEO basics, and responsive frameworks
- Expertise in tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or equivalent
