ZEISS Group is an international technology enterprise in the optics and optoelectronics industries, founded in 1846 and headquartered in Germany. The company employs around 46,600 people and operates in 50 countries, generating nearly 12 billion euros in annual revenue. Around 15 percent of revenue is invested directly in research and development.

ZEISS is wholly owned by the Carl Zeiss Foundation, which ties its ownership to foundation stewardship and a mandate to fund scientific research programmes, including on topics from aging societies to the circular economy. The company has stated an ambition to work toward carbon neutrality by 2024/25. Its stated purpose centres on precision solutions for semiconductors, healthcare, research and industrial quality.
