Wegmans Food Markets is a privately held American supermarket chain, family-owned and operated by the Wegman family since 1916. The company began as the Rochester Fruit & Vegetable Company, started as a pushcart, and now operates 114 full-service grocery stores across nine states and Washington, D.C., employing more than 50,000 people.

Its stores offer high-quality, great-tasting products with cleaner ingredients, sourced in part through partnerships with local farms and suppliers. Under the Food You Feel Good About initiative, launched in 1991, Wegmans has continuously removed artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and sweeteners from its own products.

The company's stated mission is "helping people live healthier, better lives through exceptional food", with an emphasis on family values and community impact in every market served. Geographic presence covers New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
