Verathon

Verathon, founded in 1984, makes non-invasive medical visualization devices including BladderScan ultrasound bladder scanners and GlideScope video laryngoscopes for hospitals worldwide.

Verathon is a medical device company that develops non-invasive visualization equipment for healthcare providers. Its two best-known products address different clinical problems: BladderScan, a portable ultrasound device that measures bladder volume without catheterization, and GlideScope, a video laryngoscope introduced in 1999 for difficult intubations. Both are used in hospitals worldwide, across urology, anaesthesiology and airway management.

The company was founded in 1984 as Diagnostic Ultrasound Corporation, in a modest basement workshop, by founders responding to an unmet clinical need. It now operates as a subsidiary of Roper Technologies. Its technical work spans medical ultrasound imaging, portable ultrasound technology, non-invasive diagnostic devices and video laryngoscopy.

Verathon states that seven core values guide its decisions from research and development through to customer support. The company has set a target of net zero emissions by 2045. Its stated focus is helping clinicians visualize the hidden internal realities of the human body.
