Twitch

Twitch is a live streaming platform where communities gather in real time around gaming, entertainment, music, sports, cooking and other interests. Founded in 2011 and spun off from Justin.tv as a dedicated gaming streaming service, it has since expanded into live interactive entertainment more broadly. Millions of users gather daily across thousands of communities on the platform.

The company's technology spans live video streaming, real-time interactive chat, community platform technology, digital content delivery and creator monetization systems. Its products include the Twitch live streaming platform, which lets creators broadcast video in real time; Subscriptions and Bits, which allow viewers to support creators financially; and Interactive Chat, which turns broadcasts into two-way conversations between streamers and audiences.

Twitch places creator empowerment at the centre of its model, providing the tools for creators to turn their passion into careers. The platform is organised around community-driven participation rather than passive viewing, and covers a range of interests beyond gaming. Twitch was acquired by Amazon in 2014.
