Throttle & Thrive

Throttle & Thrrive is a men's substance misuse treatment facility in Palos Verdes Estates, California, serving exclusively first responders and veterans - including those from law enforcement, active duty military, fire departments and emergency services. Founded by Shavonne Thompson, the facility operates a six-bed programme spanning medically supervised detoxification and residential substance use disorder treatment.

Care combines 12-step methodology, adventure therapy, physically demanding daily workouts and holistic healing approaches. Alongside substance dependency, the facility treats co-occurring mental health conditions, with dedicated trauma and PTSD programmes for men who have served. Nature experiences are used to help patients manage adrenaline, within a structured environment built on defined systems and processes.

The facility is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State Department of Health Care Services. It is FOP-approved, accepts workers' compensation claims and most insurance, and works out-of-network where necessary, with a stated commitment to removing financial barriers to care. Its guiding principles are service, integrity and empowerment.
